Ivy blends warmth with unpredictability, vulnerability with bite, and neurotic humor with moral clarity. Her characters feel lived-in and idiosyncratic – the woman who witnesses everything and surprises you with the truth you didn’t see coming. She’s the kind of everyday New Yorker who unexpectedly steals a scene in a procedural.
For Ivy, the through-line has always been the same: tell the truth, then tell it again, in a new form.
A member of SAG-AFTRA, Ivy Tobin has worked across television, film, and theater for decades, with credits ranging from Sidney Lumet and Robert Redford to Woody Allen and Sydney Pollack. Trained at HB Studios in New York and a BFA graduate of the University of Miami, she brings the discipline of the stage to every role she takes on.
Her work as an author has reached an audience of more than 200,000 readers through The Society for Recovering Doormats. She is the author of the novel My Life as a Doormat the practical guide Off the Floor, and the novel fiction Not Just My Mother's Daughter.
As a producer, she adapted her own novel into the award-winning indie series My Life as a Doormat, which has screened at festivals across four continents.
